This Party is not over yet…extend your summer

Well, I’ve been putting this off for as long as possible, but the moment has arrived. It looks like I’ll have to put away those shorts because Winter is here. If you live in the North East like I do, that means the cold weather came with it. Sadly, no more early morning bike rides and my daily routine will have to be brought inside. I can even hear Shirley Bassey singing, “The Party’s Over” in my head.

When I got back from my last ride I thought my face was going to crack open once I defrosted. Not wanting my cycling activities to end, I started researching. What could do to extend my stay in the outdoors? I came across this Helmet Liner Cap Beanie with ear covers and mask from Tough Outfitters. It got me thinking, maybe the party wasn’t over just yet.

It arrived in a few days and I could not wait to try it. It was well packaged, and the quality looked good at first inspection. The next morning came and it was a balmy 38 degrees, perfect! No problem for me anymore, I donned this summer extender for the first time. It fit perfectly under my helmet and I was comfortable. I took a quick glance at myself in the reflection of one of my car windows before hitting the road. For a moment I thought I looked like a superhero getting ready to save the world. But I digress.

I started my morning journey and was relieved to notice that I still had feeling in my ears. My nose was not cold and I was able to focus on my ride. Rather than think about how cold I was. This head gear is versatile too! If you choose, you could use the mask portion as a neck warmer or even just wear it under your helmet as a cap.

I am delighted to have found this and at the current listed price of $12.95, it was worth a shot. Living in the area I do; it is both a blessing and a curse. Sure, you get to experience all the seasons and see a little snow. But if you enjoy biking and running outside all year round it does present its challenges. If you have any other cold weather solutions, I would love to hear your thoughts, I think I need a better pair of gloves next.
