Have you ever thought you knew everything about something only to find out you actually know nothing. Well, that was me with my recent R/C experience. When I was younger I built many Tamiya Kits, starting with the Grasshopper of course. I then graduated to the Team Associated kits and certainly knew my way around the hobby. Kids from all over the neighborhood would flock to my workshop to repair their wheels. That was then and after a brief hiatus (20 years or so) I now have kids of my own and could not wait to share my talents with them. Until I realized, the entire hobby has changed and I would be starting from scratch.
I found my old kits in my parents basement and after doing some research, I realized they are now considered vintage and I would not even be able to charge a battery. Speaking of which, I had no idea we had come so far in batteries and motors. Brushless what was that? So, if I was going to introduce them to R/C off to Amazon I went. They are too young to do a build kit, but I wanted to find something they could have fun with and frankly so could I. After some research I found this Hosim 9125 a 1:10 scale truck that seemed like it might fit the bill.
The 9125 comes fully assembled with everything you would need to start bashing right away. You get the remote controller with a range of up to 80m/262 ft and 2.4Ghz, a 7.4V/1600mAh Rechargeable Battery Pack, and a USB charger. For it’s price point it seemed to have all the latest features as well. It is 4 wheel drive, waterproof, with dual motors, and really fast topping out at 30mph.
I could not wait for it to arrive, I mean the kids could not wait. As soon as we got it I could not believe what good quality it was for the price. I started charging it right away and waiting for that light to turn green. I called the kids out of the house and we started taking turns at the wheel. The car has two modes full speed and half speed or as I like to call it adult speed and kid speed.
This thing can really fly and takes a beating as well. I truly did not expect this truck to perform the way that it does. The durability and control is amazing and I cannot explain to you the amount of fun you can have with this thing. I know Hosim says the scale is 1:10, but it does seem a little smaller compared to other models. This did not really bother me, the only problem so far is waiting for it to charge so we can play again.
If your looking for a reasonably priced quick and easy setup R/C truck. I would highly recommend this one, especially if your just looking to have some fun and get into the hobby. It seems like it will last and for the price is well work the investment. This would definitely make a great holiday gift too if your looking for ideas. Put this one on the list, the recipient will not be disappointed.
